Theo Davis

Theo has always been wildly creative since the days of his youth. Art and music were skills he slowly developed while living in the urban core. Throughout his life, Theo always seemed to see the world differently than others which was both a blessing and a curse. A recent Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis has suddenly connected all the dots to his introverted and creative nature. His wife of 17 years, Malia Davis, has always described him as unique and gifted – always putting family first. Together they parent three children, all named after Theo’s favorite Video Game characters: Zelda, Shepherd, and Cloud. In addition to being an artist, Theo has been a full time pastor the past 17 years. He is currently the Digital Pastor at Restore Community Church in Kansas City, MO.

Theo’s artistic skills are primarily known for two styles: His storybook watercolor paintings of the places we work, live, and play. And his Palette Knife Oil paintings of the same subject matter but in a drastically different style. These are heavily textured works are created by exclusively using a palette knife. This gives those paintings a raw impressionistic style with his liberal use of oil on the canvas. Theo is no stranger to acrylic, watercolor, pen, or charcoal forms of art either. His autism contributes to an inability to stick with one medium too long. Every few months he shifts his creative focus in the never-ending search for authentic expression. However, his first loves will always be watercolor illustrations and palette knife oil painting, which he consistently returns to.

Theo spends most of his art time working on custom orders for people both local and nation-wide, but when he has free time, you never know what he will create next. Theo’s works have been on display at several local galleries including The Jones Gallery, Leedy Voulkos Art Center, Nebraska Furniture Mart, and on the front page of the Kansas City Star Newspaper & Website.
